Designed by Barber-McMurry architects, this center hall Colonial style home was built in 1938 for Mrs. Cora Medaris (1885-1970), widow of Glenn C. Medaris, owner of Clinton Drug Store and mayor of Clinton from 1924 until his death in 1929. The old Medaris home was on Main Street, at that time known as Jacksboro St, until 1938, when the historic Post Office building was built on the site. Mrs. Medaris was a charter member and president of the Timely Topics Club of Clinton, the Garden Club, and a member of Memorial Methodist Church. Mayor and Mrs. Medaris had one daughter, Celdon Medaris Lewallen. A tribute to Cora Medaris in the local newspaper said “Mrs. Medaris held the charm and graciousness of a lady of the Old South.”
